Hello from ST5K
Oh hello there and welcome to the ST5K Adelaide Street Art Festival blog.
We’ve just recovered from another successful little ST5K festival that we ran at the Format Festival 2009, and have decided to try and build things up a little bit for 2010… perhaps advertise the festival, invite more artists to be involved, maybe even apply for a grant so that we have a budget to run the festival.
So to start things off, we thought we’d keep a blog. We figure it’ll be great to look back on and work out how to do things better for next year. Plus some of you might be thinking about putting on a street art & graffiti festival in your city, and so you might learn some valuable lessons about what not to do from us too.
Who are we?
We are Matt Walker and Simon Loffler. We’re a couple of design nerds who enjoy walking the streets photographing urban art.
After the original founders of ST5K left for other states, Yasemin Sabuncu headed to Melbourne & Chris Tamm to Sydney, we decided to step up and try our hand at running the festival.
Its been a steep learning curve, understanding that without inviting people to attend a festival, not many people show up. But we love making street art, and helping point young kids in the direction of making their own too. So hopefully soon we’ll get the festival running guff sorted.
If you’d like to help out or get involved, we’re always in need of extra hands. So please do leave a comment on this blog and we’ll get in touch.
Thanks, Simon.
